What Makes Us Unique?

What Makes Us Unique?

We are proud to be one the few remaining locally owned and operated funeral homes in the area. Funeral Director James Gilmore has been in the funeral service for over 30 years and has owned Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home since 1994. He provides compassionate care and personal attention to the families he serves.

In addition, we have two great programs that are distinctive to our funeral home:

Memorial Tree Program

Our program is unique to any funeral home in our area. We have memorial trees planted locally, allowing family members the ability to visit
their Living Memorial. We make a donation to the Delaware State Parks for each individual served, which is then used to plant trees at Bellevue State Park. Each family is given a personalized, framed certificate as a keepsake.

Annual Holiday Memorial Service

The first year after a loss is very difficult, especially during the holiday season. For this reason we conduct a Holiday Memorial Service in early December. Each year a different clergy member from our area churches leads us in a service of remembrance. At the conclusion of the service, each family receives a keepsake ornament inscribed with their loved one's name and date of death.
