Obituary for Brian David Mathewson
Brian David Mathewson, age 39, of Wilmington, Delaware formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
Brian attended A.I. DuPont High School. He had a love of nature and enjoyed waterfalls and swimming in rivers in locations such as Alapocas State Park, the Brandywine River and Hocking Hills in Ohio. Brian loved music and going to concerts. He was a Philadelphia Eagles and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
We lost our son/brother/father to complications from a long battle with heroin addiction. This devastating disease has affected our lives, as it has for so many families. The tragic loss of life is not always from an overdose.
Brian was preceded in death by his dad, David Mathewson; grandfather, Frank Mathewson; and grandparents, Tom and Ann Hamilton.
Survivors include his daughter, Valantra Mathewson; mother, Carol Lepsik (Steve); brothers, Jeff Mathewson, Chris Mathewson, and Andrew Baldwin; sisters, Rebecca Lepsik and Stephanie Lepsik; grandmother, Margaret Mathewson; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, to benefit Brian’s daughter, donations may be made to :
