Robert A. "Bob" Johnston

Smyrna, Formerly of Newport - Bob, age 81 passed away Friday, January 19, 2018. He was born and raised in Newport, DE.

Bob worked in the Material Department at General Motors for 49 years, retiring in 2004 and was a member of the UAW 435. He was a Conrad High School graduate, Class of 1954. He enjoyed horse racing at Delaware Park and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Sandra, his daughters Debra Igo, Judy Richwine and husband Jay, Darlene Mitchell and husband Chris, Grandchildren Jaime and Jake; brother Jim Johnston, Jr. and wife Janis. He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Bryant.

Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 24 at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis Street, Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 1:00pm. Graveside service immediately following at St. James Episcopal Church in Newport.
