Obituary for Cynthia Lynn Sakowski Donahue
Cynthia L. Sakowski, age 60 of Newark, DE passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Wilmington, DE on May 5, and was the daughter of Stanley J. Sakowski, Sr. and Clara (Baker) Sakowski.
Cynthia graduated from William Penn High School and attended Goldey Beacom college. She was an employee at Safeway for 21 years. She loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren and enjoyed trips to the beach, gardening, baking. Cindy’s smile could light up a room, and she had a way of making everyone feel loved and special. Her words of encouragement were wise beyond her years; she always knew what to do even if she didn’t experience it personally.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Stanley J. Sakowski, Sr.
She is survived by her three daughters, Angela Childress, April Scalia (Chris), Amy Hollis, ten grandchildren, Andraya, Jaidon, Johnathan, Christopher, Jazlynn, Gianni, Jacob, Alivia, Jaxton and Lily, her mother, Clara (Baker) Sakowski; siblings, Lou Anne Smeltzer, Stanley Sakowski, Jr., Robin Tiller and Christopher Sakowski. She is also survived by her mother in law Margaret Childress and her dearest friend Ginger Childress.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Nichols Gilmore Funeral Home in Newport, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 7pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Amy Hollis to help with the funeral expenses.
