Wayne B. Hammond

Formerly of Wilmington - Wayne, age 69, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018.

Wayne was a 1968 graduate of John Dickerson High School and earned his nursing degree from Delaware Tech. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the John T. Willis. He then worked as a registered nurse at the VA Hospital in Elsmere and the NET Detox Center on Kirkwood Highway. Wayne loved cars and belonged to several car clubs. He also loved his pets, many of whom he rescued.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, C. Leslie and Nathalie Hammond.

Survivors include his brother, Charles L. Hammond (Karen); his niece; Catherine Hammond; his loving partner, Mary Ann Ager and her son, Tyler Ager; and a large extended family.

Funeral Services will be at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 11 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 1 pm. Burial will be private.
