Albert E. Banks “Pop”, age 77, of Smyrna, formerly of Wilmington, DE and Cambridge, MD, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
Pop worked at Coopers Furniture Store for 31 years before retiring in 2007. He enjoyed basketball, especially the Philadelphia 76rs and Julius Erving.
Pop was preceded in death by his wife, Clara G. Bishop; daughter, Maria E. Grooms; Sister, Martha Banks “Lady”; brother, James Banks and grandson, Steven Grooms.
Survivors include his sons, Samuel Grooms (Freeda), Anthony Grooms and Troy Banks; daughter, Ina Grooms (Bronto Britt); grandchildren, Warren Grooms Sr (Sherita), Lamont Grooms, Kevin Grooms, Shantell Grooms, Toni Grooms Banks, Michael Grooms and Ardena Banks; great grandchildren, Tyrea, Ta’Jah and Tyonna, Warren Jr and Ta-naya; nieces, Ida Charles and Barbara Banks Smith; nephew, James Charles and a host of great great grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private.
