Bobbie, of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Newark, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 2, 2015. She was raised in Old New Castle and was a 1948 graduate of Newark High School. Bobbie was a long time and active member of St. John's - Holy Angels Parish where she taught Sunday School at St. John's and sang in the choir at Holy Angels. Recently she was a member of St. Jude's Church. Bobbie worked at Ursline Academy and after her marriage she worked at Chrysler and for the State of Delaware. She sang with the 76'ers on Saturday nights and enjoyed line dancing at the Newark Senior Center. Bobbie completed the course with the John Robert Powers Modeling, Finishing and Charm School on October 1, 1991.She competed in the Mrs. Delaware Senior Pageant where she sang "Over the Rainbow". Bobbie received the Music for Life Diploma and achieved proficiency and performance excellence of Music for Life from Wilmington Piano Co on May 17, 1996. She received the Danny Thomas Foundation Certificate of Appreciation in 1962 in recognition of outstanding support in helping St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for children and families fighting the battle of cancer and other deadly diseases which was presented with gratitude by Marlo Thomas in February of 2015. Bobbie adored animals, especially Tammy, her Golden Retriever. Earlier this year she received a picture of Doris Day with her dogs in appreciation for her loyal support to protect and stop the abuse and suffering of vulnerable animals who desperately need support and to protect their rights as God's creation and man's best friends and to say no to animal testing.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Charles H. Yeatman, in 1989; a grandson, Michael Yeatman and a sister, Clara Robinson. Survivors include her children, Carol A. Godwin (Ralph), Kathleen M. Yeatman-Stock (Jerry), William A. Yeatman (Christine), Charles P. Yeatman (Bonnie) and Justina C. Quindlen (Stephen); 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, August 7 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM at HOLY ANGELS CHURCH, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood HWY.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Bobbie's memory to either the Doris Day Animal League, 201 L Street NW Washington, D.C. 20037 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
