Barry L. Mays Sr, age 79, of Wilmington, formerly of Newport, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024.
Barry was a carpenter at DuPont Chamber Works for 33 years before retiring in 2000. He was a Life Member of Minquas Fire Company, a member of NWTF, and a 1963 graduate of Conrad High School. Barry was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hazel Mays; son, Joseph Mays; brothers, Ronnie and Gordie and mother-in-law, Elsie "Mom" Andrews.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Susanna Mays; his sons, Michael Mays (Adele), Dean Mays (Cindy) and Barry Mays Jr; grandchildren, Anna, Emily, Becca, Taylor and Abbie; great grandchildren, Stephen and Parker and puppy, Kayden.
Funeral Services will be at 11 am on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Peniel United Methodist Church, 115 E Market St, Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Burial will be private.
