It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother & friend Bessie Pettyjohn, who passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 75.
Born on March 13, 1949, in Florence, South Carolina, she grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and later moved to Milford, Delaware. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Webster Pettyjohn, a devoted mother to her children and a caring grandmother to her grandchildren.
Bessie Pettyjohn lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for singing, cooking, baking and art. She also was a devote servant of Jehovah God and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah witnesses in Milford Delaware. She always enjoyed participating in her bible studies and going door to door to deliver the word of God. Bessie Pettyjohn was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality.
She is survived by her 4 children Leroy Lewis, Neal Lewis, Omar Pettyjohn, Justin Pettyjohn, and 2 grandchildren Amanda Simms Green, Chloe Lee Lewis, who will miss her dearly.
A private funeral service will be held for immediate family members and friends.
