Age 71 of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012.
John retired from General Motors in 2006 after 30 years. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and also served in the Delaware National Guard. John was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
John was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Hamm and his sister, Blanche Earvase. Survivors include his son, Bruce Hamm, Jr.of Newport; his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Derrell Lankford of Dover;his brother, Bill Hammond; his grandchildren, Brandon, Coty, Logan, Caitlin, Ryan, Joey and Emilie; his step-daughters, Jenny and Becky; his step-grandchildren, Brittany and Jonovan; and his former wife, Mary Hamm Lauer.
John's family wish to give a special thank you to his neighbor, Virginia, for all she has done for him.
Services will be 2pm, Sunday, October 28th at Nichols- Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport where visitation will begin at 12 noon.
Burial with military honors will be 11am, Friday, November 2nd at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
The family suggests contributions in John's memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702-B, Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.
