Callie passed away at Gilpin Hall on Thursday, February 11, 2016.
She was a homemaker and previously worked at Kamagraph and Chicken Deluxe. Callie enjoyed fishing, visiting Delaware Park, watching football and baseball, listening to Country music and spending time with friends and family. She loved animals especially her many dogs.
Callie was preceded in death by her daughter, Deloris Slingwine;her grandson, Michael I. Slingwine; her sisters, Mary Campbell, Dot Wheatly, Betty Fisher, Lucy Ross and Margaret Fisher; her brothers Charles, and James McVey and her husband James Reader. Survivors include her son, Richard A. Slingwine (Christine McElwee); 4 grandchildren, Vincent Slingwine, Jessica Daniels (Paul), Ricky Slingwine (Marie) and Destiny Slingwine; 6 great grandchildren, Shane and Nicholas Slingwine, Anthony Vanover, Ava Perry, Nathan and Tyler Slingwine and her longtime companion, Arnold Wiseman.
Memorial Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, February 20 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where visitation will begin at 10 AM. Burial will be private.
Callie's family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful care she received from the staff at Gilpin Hall and Compassionate Care Hospice.
