Carl W. Shanosk Jr.

Carl W. Shanosk Jr, 78 of Bear, DE, died on Saturday, September 14, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna, his sons, Carl E. Shanosk and his wife Clarissa and their daughter Callie, Pastor Dave Shanosk and his wife, Liz and their daughters Maddie and Abigail, and Carl's daughter, Kathy Shanosk and her son, Josh. Carl is also survived by his brother Ed Shanosk and wife Joan, and his sister, Claire Andrus.

Carl was born in Philadelphia, PA. He joined the US Navy, serving aboard USS Enterprise and USS Detroit. He also served in the office of the Commander in Chief of the Atlantic Fleet, and Naval Support Activity, Danang, in the Vietnam War. After leaving the Navy, Carl worked for music retailers in Pennsylvania and Florida, selling pianos and organs. In the following years, he became a District Manager for Leslie Speakers and Conn Organ. Changing careers, he joined Chandler Funeral home and became a funeral director. Finally, he opened his own funeral practice, Shanosk Services LLC, at about the time he and his wife, Donna, owned and operated The Cruise Shoppe in Newark, DE, both of which he worked until his retirement at age 74. Through the years, he was musically talented as an experienced organist and keyboardist, aboard the USS Enterprise, and for several churches that he and Donna attended over the years. He created countless recordings of a variety of music over the years, and wrote and published three books, still available through Amazon.

Services will be at 12 noon on Friday, September 20, at Bible Fellowship Church of Newark, 808 S Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702 where visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment, with Military Honors, will be at 11 am on Tuesday, October 1 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701.
