Catherine Ayres

Age 96, of Newark, DE, passed away on June 15, 2012 at her daughter Kay's home, while surrounded by her loving family.
Cass was born in Philadelphia to the late Thomas and Catherine Thornton (Wisely). Cass was a homemaker and also worked at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School. She felt blessed in life with the love of family and friends and was known for her nurturing ways and energetic personality. Cass was especially known for her love of shopping and spending time with all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Those privileged to know her either as Mom, MomMom, Grandmom, or Aunt Cass, are thankful for the wonderful memories, great conversations and loving companionship.
Survivors include her daughters: Barbara Collins and her husband Ken, Joan Perricone, and Catherine (Kay) Civatte; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Cass was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Carl; her second husband Hal Ayres; her son Carl Schleeter Jr. ; her son-in-law Ray Civatte; her sister Eleanor Miller; and brother John Thornton.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon on Tuesday, June 19 at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713, where visitation will begin at 11 AM. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
