Age 96, of Newport, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011.
Snookie worked at Wilmington Provision Packing Plant and later at Howard Johnson's Restaurant on Kirkwood Highway where she retired around 1972. She was a member of St. Matthew Church and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at the Sunday Breakfast Mission. Snookie was committed to her family, and loved children and animals. She enjoyed traveling and a favorite memory was her first motorcycle ride on her 90th birthday.
Snookie was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Biazzie "Uncle Casper" in 1976; and by her sisters, Mildred Connolly, Jessie Burkett, Evelyn Yarnall, Gladys Buckingham and Agnes Haughey. Survivors include her stepchilden, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 8th at St. Matthew's Church, Maryland and Curtis Aves., Woodcrest, where visitation will begin at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Newport.
