Charlene Antoinette Keys, age 59, of Wilmington, went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Sarah G. Brittingham (Sarah Keys) and Charles S. Miller-Bey (formerly Charles Miller). Charlene grew up in Belvedere, Delaware, and was a proud graduate of McKean High School. Throughout her working life, Charlene dedicated many years as a cook at Home Life Management.

Her career included positions at a chocolate factory, the McDonald's on 4th Street, the YWCA, and the News Journal. She was a devoted member of Scott AME Zion Church, Deaconess Keys showed great passion for her faith. She loved reading the Bible, leading Bible studies, and sharing the Gospel. Rev. Ogden T. Jones, her pastor, recognized her unwavering commitment to her role, where she faithfully supported him in caring for the sick and shut-ins. Charlene was an active member of the Stewardess Board at Scott AME Zion and participated regularly in the church's prayer line.

Her deep love for the Scriptures was apparent to everyone who knew her. Pastor Ogden expressed gratitude for being part of Deaconess Keys' spiritual journey. Besides her church activities, Charlene enjoyed singing, cooking, savoring delicious food, and watching wrestling.

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Margret Elliott; stepsister, Janet Canon; her biological mother, Sarah G. Brittingham; and her biological father, Charles S. Miller-Bey.

Charlene is survived by her son, Maurice J. Keys; her stepmother, Marion Miller; brothers Lorin, Shawn, Shannon, Tyree Miller, and Anthony Mims; sisters Cynthia Miller and Susan Randolph; and stepbrother Kevin Canon in addition to a loving circle of more aunts, uncles, devoted cousins (from the Trotters; Andersons; Harmons and Blalock family blood line), and a host of friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Noon, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at CATHEDRAL OF FRESH FIRE, 2300 Northeast Blvd. Wilmington, DE 19802, where visitation will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to assist with the funeral expenses.
