Age 79 of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007.
Chet was an Instrumentation Specialist for the Dupont Co., mainly in Newport, for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He served in the US Navy from 1945 until 1946. He was a Mason and Past Master(1977-1976)of the Ionic Lodge #31. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1578 in New Castle. Chet enjoyed boating and fishing.
Chet is survived by his wife of 37 years, Doris M. Hamm; children, Linda Martin of Wilmington, DE; Jennifer Messimer of Warwick, MD; and Larry Hamm of Wilmington; stepchildren, Michael West of Modesto, CA: David West of Quakertown, PA; and Sharon Sullivan of Newtown, PA; sisters, Charlotte McCool of Elkton, MD; and Mary Baer of Christiana, DE; brothers, Howard Hamm of Smyrna, DE; and Ronald Hamm of Newport, DE; 3 grandchildren and 8 step grandchildren.
Masonic services will be 10:45 am on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, DE, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7:00-9:00 pm on Monday, January 8th. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave. & Dupont Rd., Wilm., DE.
