David Lorenzo Harmon Sr, affectionately known as “Buddy”, age 92, of New Castle, passed away quietly on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

Born July 26, 1931, in Accomack County, Virginia to Annie Horsey Harmon and William Walter Harmon. He attended and graduated from Mary Nottingham Smith High School.

After leaving his hometown in Virginia, he settled in Philadelphia where he built a life with his beloved wife, Annie Morris Miller. Their marriage of over 60 years was blessed with five children, creating a strong and loving family unit.

Buddy's career as a truck driver was not just a job but a passion. From driving long distances to maneuvering a dump truck on construction sites, he found joy in every moment behind the wheel. His knowledge of the roads was unparalleled, able to guide you from Point A to Point B.

Despite his busy schedule, Buddy always made time for his family. A true outdoorsman, he cherished days spent grilling in the backyard, and tending to his garden. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and his presence in their lives was a constant source of comfort and wisdom.

In all aspects of his life, Buddy embodied the values of Family, Hard Work, and Kindness. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew and loved him, a testament to a life well-lived and a heart full of love. Buddy was the last of his nine siblings to depart from this life.

Buddy was preceded in death by his wife Annie Harmon and his daughter, Elvira Harmon.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Butler, Cathy Coleman (Dirk), Fanchette Harmon (John Williams) and David L. Harmon Jr; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
