David Swain

David P. Swain, age 85, of Elsmere, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Dave was a 1957 graduate of Wilmington High School. He retired as a pipe fitter from General Motors after 32 years and prior to that was lead auto mechanic for 22 years at W&S Services. Dave was a member of Richardson Park United Methodist Church, Building Maintenance Group (BMG) and Koinonia Fellowship.

Dave enjoyed remodeling projects and was a skilled craftsman and handyman. He loved spending time with his family, especially on holidays and family swim day.

Dave was preceded in death by his son, Bob Swain and brother, Rodger Swain.

Dave is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sondra R. “Sandy” Swain; children, Sharon Wright (Charles Young), Daniel Swain, Susan Eveland (Elwood), Denise Reburn (Michael Kammerdiener), Ruthann Will (John), Gladys Chamberlain (Bob Swain), Jennifer Patterson (Chris Schneider); siblings, Marvin Swain (Betty), Carolyn Swain, Allan Swain (Kathy); 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 on the way.

Memorial services will be at 12 noon on Monday, September 16, 2024 at RICHARDSON PARK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 11 N. Maryland Ave, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Burial will be private.

The family would appreciate in lieu of flowers that contributions in Dave’s memory be made to Richardson Park United Methodist Church, 11. N. Maryland Ave, Wilmington, DE 19804.
