Dennis R. “Big D” Nichols Jr., age 47, of Newark, formerly of Middletown, Newport, and New Castle, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday June 11, 2022.
Dennis was the manager at Walgreens, formerly Happy Harrys, and worked at the Brookside Store for around 25 years.
Dennis attended Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical High School
Dennis was a member of many different dart leagues, bowling leagues, and pool leagues. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed fantasy sport leagues.
Dennis was preceded in death by his brothers, Brian and Steven.
Dennis is survived by his wife Beverly Connell who he met at age 18 and they have been together ever since. He is also survived by his 3 sons, Dennis III, Tyler, and Mason; parents, Maria Uhrick Nichols, Dennis R. Nichols Sr. and his wife Margaret “Peggy” Nichols; brothers, Eric Nichols (Tiffany Baranowski), William Nichols, and Charles “Chuck” Pyle; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Services will be Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 12 noon at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804. Visitation will begin at 10:30. Burial will be private.
