Derek Rousseau

Derek James "Derk", age 21, of Newark, passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2023.

Derek was born in Syracuse, NY and moved to Newark, DE in early life. He graduated from Delcastle High School in 2020 during the pandemic. Derek played Piedmont Little League and ran Cross Country in High School. He enjoyed playing recreation Baseball and going to the Delaware Beaches.

Derek is preceded in death by his Aunt Gloria Stoughtenger; Grandmother, Jean Stoughtenger; and Grandparents, Willard and Gertrude Lyons.

Survivors include his parents, Laura (Mike) Levitsky and Harold Rousseau Jr.; brother, Michael John (Valarie) Wilder; sister, Nicole Wilder; partner, Renee; nieces, Neila Wilder, Jada Hitchens and Raylee Hitchens; aunts, Dana McIntyre, Gail Stoughtenger, Cindy (Bill) Linde, Wendy (Bob) Johnson, Jamie Stoughtenger (Mark Clancey), Elsie Lathrop and Laura Kimball (Paul Waterman); and uncles, Ted Stoughtenger, Randy (Karen) Stoughtenger and David Rousseau.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Nichols - Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where visitation will begin at 9:30 AM. Burial will be private.
