Dion G Sampson, 53, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2014, surrounded by family.
He was a very decorated Correctional SGT with the Department of Corrections, Web Facility for the past 29 years. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1979. He loved cooking, BBQ grilling, gardening, fishing, artistic painting and drawing, and enjoyed his motorcycle trips. He enjoyed traveling to include Wildwood, NJ, the Bahamas, Maine and Florida. He used his artistic talents by donating time and his visions to the community especially local churches. Most of all, time spent with family and friends was a great enjoyment of Dion and Ella.
Dion is survived by his wife, Ella O. Sampson, together as high school sweethearts for 36 years since 1978; his daughters, Quiana "Nfrwi" Hall (Kelvin), Alexis Holland (Cyril); sister, Sylverna Smith (Franklin); grandson, Ysrair; his aunt, several nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Phylis Smith Sampson.
