Doris Rawley-McClelland, age 77 of Silview passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family, on Friday, June 27, 2008.
Doris was a Registered Nurse at the Christiana Care Medical Center for over 40 years before retiring in 1994. She was a long time member of Peniel United Methodist church where she belonged to the Eve Circle, Bell Choir and sang with the Chapel singers. Doris was also a member of the Moose Lodge in New Castle and she enjoyed boating, trips to the beach and country line dancing. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family.
Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Rawley who passed away in 1988 after 37 years of marriage, and a grandson, Corey Asmus who passed away in 2006. Survivors include her husband of 8 years, Percy McClelland; daughters, Carol Mayhew and her husband Gary, Donna DiFrancis and her husband Ronald, Robin Asmus and her husband Leonard, Michele Walter and her husband Martin and Ann Essick, step daughter, Kathy Hotmer and her husband Bruce; step son Danny McClelland; grandchildren, Gary Mayhew II and his wife Theresa, Shannon Mayhew, Stephanie Mayhew, Angela diFrancis, Sara diFrancis, Jason Asmus and his wife Danielle, Dane Walter, Kristina Walter, Brandon Walter, Amiee Schaeffer and her husband Michael, and Colleen Matthews and her husband Gene; step grandchildren, Kaitlin Hotmer, Matthew Hotmer, Brooke McClelland and Erin McClelland; and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10am on Wednesday, July 2 at Peniel UMC where visitation will be only on Tuesday July 1 from 6 to 8pm. Burial will be at Old drawyers cemetery in Odessa.
The family suggests contributions in Doris' memory to Peniel UMC, 115 E. Market st., Newport, DE 19804.
