Doris Jacqueline Walton, 88, of Newark, Delaware, passed peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Wilmington Hospital.
Doris was born in Delaware Hospital to George and Edna Walton and spent most of her life living in northern New Jersey and Delaware, and briefly in North Carolina and Florida. In addition to a lengthy career working as a nurse anesthetist, Doris was a prolific, life-long artist whose paintings captured a great variety of subjects and techniques. Her commissioned works remain in public spaces and private homes throughout the country. Doris loved music and was both an avid reader and writer. One of her favorite sayings was "books are my friends." Following retirement, Doris was also a tireless volunteer of her time and energy, and taught English as a second language believing that for her students, literacy is essential to dignity and quality of life.
Doris is predeceased by her parents, and her brother, George Walton II. She is survived by brothers Bruce, John, and Frederick, her beloved three children, Eric, Britta, and Jeffery Kellner, and her cherished grandson Kyle Kellner.
