Dorothy Biddle

Dorothy E. Biddle (nee Forsythe), passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 90, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Jason Forsythe and the late Jenny (nee Coombs) Forsythe. She spent most of her childhood in Claymont.

Dorothy met her future husband, the late Clifton C Biddle, at the roller rink on Concord Pike. Both were smitten and knew it was love. They married 9 months later and were married 1 month short of 60 years when Clifton passed. Dorothy was the best mother to two daughters, Della Alexander (Dean) and Jennifer Watson (Mike).
Dorothy was a selfless person and took care of 13 foster children. She loved them all as her own. She retired from Schagrin Gas after many years of service. She loved boating, reading and camping in Virginia.
But her greatest past time was her 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton C. Biddle; her brother, Jason and his wife Lois; her brother in law and his wife, Wayne and Oda Biddle; and her 2 sisters in laws, Joan Williamson and Joyce Rossiter.

She is survived by her two daughters, Della Alexander (Dean) and Jennifer Watson (Michael); 9 grandchildren, Andrew, Hope, Reed, Andy, Samantha, Casey, Noah, Cassidy and Abigail, who were the light of her life. She was also survived by 6 great grandchildren, Carson, Case, Ashton, Avery, Kaden and Sammy; brother in law and sister, William and Fran Vassalotti; sister in law, Kathy Dutton, and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Compass Hospice in Maryland, especially Dawn, Roya and Kira.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Daniels and Hutchinson Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street Middletown, DE 19709. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Old Drawyers Cemetery in Odessa, 2839 Dupont Parkway.
