Dorothy J Goad, age 85, peacefully went home to the Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Born in Wilmington DE., Dorothy was a member of Liberty Fellowship Church in New Castle DE. and will be missed by her church family & friends of many years. She was retired from Bagels & Donuts where she was employed as part of the management team.
Along with being a Mom, she enjoyed, camping in her RV, traveling to spend time with extended family in VA and California. Sewing, Baking Christmas cookies, and known for making homemade holiday sugar cubes that were a family favorite. As her senior years approached one of Dorothy’s favorite pastimes was doing jigsaw puzzles. Upon completion her husband Ace would frame them to gift to friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Gunnar & Beatrice Nelson; siblings, Gunnar “Butch” Nelson and Carl Nelson, and her spouse, Julian “Ace” Goad.
She is survived by her sister, Diane DeStafney; three children, Beatrice England (Howard), Ralph Heaps Jr, Celeste Young (John), step daughter, Coleen Connellee; five grandchildren, Katherine (Rey), Kaylyn (Charlie), John (Caitlyn), Bradley & Lauren (Brandon). Most of all she cherished her great grandchildren; Drake, Mia, Serenity, Alexis, Arya, Gavin, Emmett, Chloe, Reagan, & baby Molly Grace. Gigi will be forever in their hearts.
A Christian funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11 AM at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 East Justis Street Newport, DE 19804, where a visitation for family & friends will begin at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Liberty Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 11483 Wilmington, Delaware 19850.
