Dorothy "Dot" Mitchell Towery passed away on March 21, 2022 after months of bravely battling a devastating disease, ANCA vasculitis/GPA (formerly known as Wegener's granulomatosis).
She was born in Camden, NJ, grew up in Berlin, NJ, and married in May 1963. She raised her family in Charlotte, NC, where she developed her lifelong love of tennis. She moved to Newark, DE in 1989 and completed her education at Widener University. She was a proud employee of Boeing and dedicated to the Boeing Leadership Association. She retired as a Technical Specialist in 2019. Her many volunteer efforts included organizing drives and environmental cleanups with her Boeing family, faithfully serving at Ebenezer UMC and with the Priscilla Circle, and ushering at Delaware Theatre Company. She was always on the go, loved to laugh, loved to serve, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Earl; daughter, Suzanne (Keith) Young of Charlotte, NC; son, Ken Towery of Orlando, FL; granddaughters, Hadley and Anna Lane Young of Charlotte, NC; sister, Anna (Paul) Heyman of San Marcos, CA; and brother, Ed (Maureen) Potts of West Berlin, NJ.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 at Ebenezer UMC, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE 19711 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m.
