Earl Stiner

Earl W. Stiner, of Newark, DE, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 17, 2011.

Born on September 13, 1911, in Buckingham, PA, he was the son of the late Wilmre and Clara K. Stiner (nee Worthington).

Earl attended Doylestown High School and Drexel Institute. He was a Mechanical Engineer. While in night school, Earl worked as an Inspector for the PA Dept. Of Highways and participated in the construction of Newport Gap Pike, Route 41. In 1941 he joined the DuPont Company in Time Study Application and later as a System Analyst. He retired in 1975. Always active, Earl continued working for many years after with Reiver's Floor Covering, and later, Happy Harry's Home Health Care.

Earl was an involved leader in Boy Scouts, Troop 205. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Doris and Skiing. He was a member of the Wilmington Ski Club and the Over 90 Skiers.

He was predeceased by his parents, twin brother Emmor, and sisters, Rhelda Stiner and Doris McKinstry. Earl is survived by the love of his life, his wife of sixty years, Doris R. Stiner (nee Rennert); son Bruce R. Stiner; and daughters, Dr. Mary C. Stiner and her husband Dr. Steven Kuhn, and Jean L. Mullin and her companion, Jacques Amblard; granddaughter Sarah Stiner Mullin and her fiance, Matthew Minotti, and his favorite ski partner, his grandson, John P. "Jack" Mullin.

The family would like to thank Bayada Nurses for their unconditional care and compassion and Compassionate Care Hospice for their kindness and lightening speed resolve of his every need, and Dr. Mark Glassner and Dr. Erik Marshall for their support for Earl's quality of life; we are so very grateful to all of you.

Friends and Family are invited to visitation on Tuesday evening, February 21 from 5 to 7 PM at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, DE 19804 and Wednesday morning, February 22 from 9:30 AM at Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Rd., Newark, DE 19711, followed by Funeral Services at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702B, Kirkwood HWY., Elsmere, DE 19805.
