Eddie Mcneil

d. August 10, 2020

Eddie Nelson McNeil, age 62, fell asleep in death on Monday, August 10, 2020.

“Ed”, as he was called by most who knew him, was the oldest of seven children born to Mamie E. & Willie C. McNeil in Philadelphia, PA.

Ed completed his education at The Franklin Learning Center in Philadelphia. He was a truck driver/owner operator for almost 40 years.

Ed was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Ed’s strong faith in Jehovah and his resurrection hope helped him cope with his health issues. He would receive phone calls of encouragement, and he would be the one giving encouragement before the call ended. His hospice nurses could not understand his cheerful disposition with what he was going through. This gave him the opportunity to explain to them that the Bible teaches he would only be sleeping and in God’s memory until it was time for him to be awakened when all things, including his body, would be made new because of Jehovah’s promise at Revelation 21:3, 4 and John 5:28, 29.

Ed was known for his passion for music. He sang with friends in several groups, including “The Destinations” and "Top Shelf", entertaining friends at gatherings and other genres in Philadelphia and Delaware. He then transitioned into music production and started his own company, “All Sounds Studios”.

Ed is survived by the love of his life, Jackie McNeil; his mother, Mamie E. McNeil; his children, Shawntel Giddings, Shalena Edwards (Justin) and Alicia McNeil; his siblings, Dee Smith, Joanne Fields, Kenneth McNeil, Karen Williams (Greg) and Rochelle Glenn (Derrick);11 grandchildren and one great-grandson with one to be born in the fall, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Ed is also survived by Samuel and Cora Jenkins (who he affectionately referred to as “Mom and Pop”) and Katrina Williams (Derrick) (who was like a sister).

Ed was predeceased by his father, Willie C. McNeil, his brother, Sidney McNeil and his daughter, Lakisha A. Maxfield.

Memorial Service will be private.
