Edward J. Carney, Jr., age 81 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
Ed was retired after many years as a window clerk at the Newport Post Office. He was a member of St.Matthews Catholic Church. Ed was a US Air Force Veteran and an active member of VFW Post 615 and NARFE. Ed enjoyed his family and friends, fishing, gardening and working on cars.
Ed will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Elaine; his children, Cathy Redburn, Peggy Bossemeyer (Bill), Ed Carney, III (CLaire) and Patrick Carney (Cindy); his 5 grandchildren; his brother RobertCarney (Barbara); and niece and nephew.
Committal Services will be 10 AM on Monday, March 5 in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
The family suggests contributions in Ed's memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702-B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
