Edwin Dalecki

July 28, 1925 — July 18, 2011

Age 85, of Newport, DE, passed gently on Monday, July 18, 2011 at his home in the presence of his family. Ed retired as a Master Machinist from the DuPont Co., Chestnut Run site, after more than 45 years of service. He was very active at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Ed was a member of AA for 17 years and he and his wife Ann enjoyed trips to Delaware Park. He was an avid sports fan and followed Notre Dame, Salesianum and the Eagles. Ed will be most remembered for his devotion to his family. Ed was one of the 12 children of the late Jan and Kazimiera Dalecki. He was proceeded in death by his sisters, Viola Hutchinson, Phyllis Cottrell, Anne Eastburn, Florence Ludlam, Marie Bybee, and Betty Haycraft; and his brothers John Paul Dalecki Jr., Theodore Dalecki and Joseph Dalecki. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ann T. Dalecki, children, Edwin A. Dalecki Jr. (Shirley) of Lewes, DE. Theresa Ann Dalecki-Zimmer of NC, and Kevin C. Dalecki (Belynda) of Newport & Milton, DE; Sister, Millie Sarnecki; brother, Charles Dalecki (Hazel); Grandchildren, William, Jenna, Jessica, Tamara, Lara, Amanda, Mollie, Jesse, Denise, and Aliya; and 3 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11am on Friday, July 22 at St. Elizabeths Calthoic Church, 809 S. Broom St., Wilmington. Visitation will be Thursday, July 21 from 7 to 8 pm at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212. E. Justis St., Newport. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington. The family suggests contributions in Ed's memory to Delaware Hospice.
