Edwin “Juni” Santiago, age 44, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Juni had a life-long love for music.
He was a dedicated and talented music creator, producer, and artist, and had life-long dreams of making it big in music. He was most happiest in the studio recording music or behind the turntables making his beats. He also loved drawing and creating art.
He enjoyed fishing, watching boxing, strolling local flea markets, cooking, grilling, and being outdoors.
He worked many jobs, in construction, maintenance, and traffic control, but he loved his jobs working with granite fabrication the most. “Polishing rocks” as he would say.
He was an animal lover at heart and had many great pets throughout the years. He leaves behind his “son” and favorite cat buddy, Greg.
His greatest love affair with music… was only superseded by the love he had for his first and longest love, his mom, Marta Oppenheimer, also of Wilmington.
He is survived by his loving sisters, Ada Santiago of Wilmington, De, nieces Amaiyaa (19), Laila (7), and nephew Angel Jr. (11); Johanna Santiago and nephew Jeremy (13) of Fl.; and Angelica Santiago (11) of Philadelphia, Pa.
Also carrying on his memory are his eldest children Ivelis Santiago-Rodriguez (27) and his granddaughter Kendall Jones (7), of Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico; Edwin Santiago-Rodriguez (25) of Tampa, FL; Matthew Santiago-Rodriguez (16) of Wilmington, De. ; and long-time loving partner and friend, Jennifer Markland, with their daughter Mia Analise Markland (8), of Wilmington, De.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin F. Santiago, his grandparents, and many loved family members.
Juni had a multitude of friendships that spanned and lasted a lifetime, and just as many that will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, February 15 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 11:30 am. Burial will be private.
