On November 4, 2020 Eleanor Shewbrooks passed away at the age of 86.
She is preceded in death by her husband Fred of sixty-six years.
She is survived by her two sons, Thomas, (wife, Victoria ), and son David. Grandchildren Carrie Donaldson, (husband, Bob) and Andrew Shewbrooks (wife, Kara). Great grandchildren Karly Lynn Shewbrooks and Aubree Renee Donaldson.
Eleanor was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Fred and loving mother to her two sons Thomas and David.
She was a proud grandmother to Carrie and Andrew. Enjoying precious family moments when they came to visit.
Eleanor was a 65 year life member of the Five Points Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary holding many executive offices. Including that of Ladies Auxiliary president.
She also held many offices in the New Castle county ladies organization. During her time in office she often received personal invitations from our state Senator to attend the fire conference in Washington,D.C.
When Eleanor was not working in an executive capacity she could be found in the firehouse kitchen preparing and serving dinners for weddings and other events. She, alongside “Fireman Fred” Shewbrooks, gave a life of service to their community.
She had a love for life and a winning smile for all who came to know her.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 10 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804.
Burial will follow at 11 am at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
Masks must be worn and social distancing enforced including maximum of 60 people in the funeral home at one time.
