Age 81, of Wilmington, DE, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2008.
Betty was a nurse's aide at Emily Bissell for many years. She enjoyed yard sales, gardening and spending time with her dog Fluffy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, Eli Wyre in 1998; her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Smith in 2000; her grandson, Chris Welch in 2007; and her stepson, Jerry L. Wyre in 2002.
Betty is survived by her children, William B. Welch, James C. Welch, Norma J. Blunk and Gary N. Welch; her stepsons, Eli Wyre, Jr., George Wyre, Michael Wyre, William Wyre, Linda Turnbull, Robert Wyre and David Wyre; grandchildren, Michele, Patricia, Richard, Mary, Sandy, Ronnie and Mikey; and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2008, in the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Dupont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park. Visitation will also be 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, January 11, 2008, at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, DE.
The family suggests contributions, in Betty's memory, to Heartland Hospice, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
