Ellen Roe

Ellen C. Roe age 81, of Wilmington, DE, passed away June 22, 2007.
Mrs. Roe was born January 16, 1926, in McKeesport, PA.In her early teen years the family moved to the Finger Lakes region of Penn Yan. After graduation from high school she entered Highland Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester & became part of the Cadet Nurse Corp, during World War II. While at Highland Hospital she held many positions; Head Nurse of the Emergency Dept., assessing the level of care for the Social Service Dept. and ending her career as a nurse practitioner for the Chief of Surgery. In 1982 she achieved her Bachelor of Science degree from Empire College, SUNY. She retired as a nuse practioner in May of 1991 and in June of the same year Ellen was enlisted to set up the health screening program for the Rosa Wims Family Wellness Center until 1998, retiring again.
Mrs. Roe is survived by her children, Sandra A.(Kenneth)Doring of DE; Robert R. (Terri) Roe of CA;
James A. (Debbie) Roe, of IL;9 grandchildren, Leland (Yvonne)Ulmer of NY;Jennifer Ulmer of CA; Michael, David a& Steven Roe of CA; Jason,
Brandon, Allixandra & Madeline Roe, of IL;1 sister, Doris C. Griffith;a niece, Cynthia (Rick) Burke; and a nephew, Christoper Griffith of Fort Wayne, IN.
In accordance with her wishes, the body has been donated for medical education to the Humanity Gifts Registry affiliated with University of Pennsylvania.
