Emerey B. "Whitey" Caron, age 80, of Wilmington, DE and CA, passed away on Monday February 5, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Elsemere, DE.
Emery was a professional hand-balancer during the 1940's and 1950's with the Glenn's, an internationally renowned acrobatic trio. He continued to perform locally with other hand-balancing acts throughout his life. Emery also worked in security for the Delaware Trust Bank for 15 years before retiring in 1987. Emery served as a signalman in the Navy Armed Guard during World War II. He was a member of the U.S.N. Armed Guard WWII Veterans Organization and the Santa Monica's Muscle Beach (acrobatic) Alumni Association of CA. For years he was actively involved in the caretaking and welfare of animals, and he leaves behind a legacy of a giving spirit and a loving heart. Emery was a devout Catholic and a lector at St. Paul's Church and St. Peter's Cathedral. He was a dedicated husband and father.
He is survived by his former wife, Maureen J. Caron of Wilm. DE, and children, Nanci R. Caron of Napa CA, John E. Caron of Chapel Hill, NC, Marie M. Caron of Wilm. DE, and Paul R. Caron of Wil. DE,; 5 grandchildren; and 2 nieces, Julie Caron of Walnut Shade, MO, and Suzanne Caron of Rigaud, Canada.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, February 19th at St. Peter's Cathedral, 6th & West Streets, Wilm., where visitation will begin at 10am. The burial at Cathedral Cemetery will be private.
