AGE: 98 • Formerly of Newport

Fred passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Newark Manor Nursing Home from kidney failure.

Fred was a WWII Marine veteran. He was a Millwright for the DuPont's Edgemoor site for 35 years before retiring in 1980. Fred was a very active lifetime member of Minquas Fire Company in Newport. He bowled in several leagues at Pleasant Hills Bowling Alley and he enjoyed visiting his life-long best friend, Jack Hanna. at Jack's Barber Shop.

Fred was preceded in death by his sisters, Dot Short and Alice Waller. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Eleanor "Sammy" Crocker; his daughter, Dianne Summers and her husband, Clem; his granddaughter, Marlo Bilsak and her husband John; his great grandchildren, Victoria, John and Annaliese Bilsak and his sister, Margaret Crocker.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 27 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport where visitation will begin at 9 AM. Burial with Fireman's and Military honors will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

Fred's family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice and Newark Manor Nursing Home for the exceptional care they gave him.
