Gail Dawson passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014. She was born in Scranton, Pa. and has resided in Newport most of her life. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and going to yard sales with her best friend.
Gail was a graduate of H.C. Conrad High School. She was retired from The Home Insurance Company and had previously worked for Bank of New York and Chase.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Bernard Rought and her best friend, Lois Lawson. Gail is survived by her husband, George Dawson; her devoted son, Darryl Johnson; her sister, Sherry wife of Wayne Riale; her sister in law, Gail Dawson; four nephews, Scott (Jennifer) Dunkelberger, Brian Dunkelberger, W. Scott and Thomas E. Riale; 11 great nieces and nephews, one great great nephew, Brayden Dunkelberger; several cousins, Nichole Rolls and family of Alexandria Bay, NY; her best friend Margie and especially her beloved cat, Callie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park where visitation will begin at 10:00.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Compassionate Care Hospice, Bayada Nursing and the Minquas Fire Company, Newport for their many transports of care for Gail. The family suggests memorial contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice or Minquas Fire Company.
