Gene passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016.
Gene retired from Chrysler in 1997 after over 32 years of service. He was an active member of the UAW local 1183. Gene was a former member of the Elsmere Fire Co. He was an avid Phillies fan.
Gene was preceded in death in 2009 by his wife, Evangeline "Van" Meinhaldt. He is survived by his son, Gary A. Meinhaldt and his wife, Jennie; brother David Meinhaldt; grandson, Brandon Meinhaldt and special family friend and caregiver, Christine Poore-Kotash.
Funeral Services will be 12 noon on Friday, August 12 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis Street, Newport where visitation will begin at 11 AM. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Gene's family would appreciate contributions in his memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 405 East Marsh Lane, Suite 4, Newport, DE 19804.
