George J. Baron 71 years of Hockessin, DE passed peacefully on February 27, 2023. Beloved of his family, he is survived by his wife of 50 years Roberta Herceg-Baron, his son David married to Christine (nee Keough) and daughter Abigail married to Adam Bozarth and their three children, his treasured granddaughters. He is the brother to Edward Baron and Janet Szper (nee Baron). He is predeceased by his mother Elizabeth (nee Opalczynski) and father Edward.
Born and raised in Chester, PA and a graduate of the University of Delaware and Hahnemann University, George married his high school sweetheart Roberta Herceg in 1973. Together, they had memorable adventures backpacking and camping throughout the United States before settling down and raising a family, first living in Ridley Park, PA and then in Moorestown, NJ.
George had a long and successful career in health care, initially as a researcher at the University of Pennsylvania and Yale University, then as a physician assistant at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Following his years as a health care clinician, George held various positions at pharmaceutical companies, retiring in 2014 as a medical communications scientist at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals in Wilmington, DE.
George enjoyed a happy family life taking summer vacations in Ocean City, MD. He loved the beach, music, and playing his acoustic guitar.
