George served in the Marines and the Navy where he rose to rank of Chief Petty Officer.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary "Pat" Grissom in 2015 and his sons, Timmy and Georgie. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Sutton: numerous brothers and sisters; grandchildren, Greg, Brian, Lauren, Holly and Christina and many great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, September 9 at 9:30 AM at St. Matthews Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington, where visitation will begin at 9 AM. Burial with Military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
