Age 56, of Newport, De, passed away on, Friday, April 9, 2010 at Christiana Hospital.
George was a lifelong resident of Newport, a lifetime member of the Delaware State Fire Police, a lifetime member of Minquas Fire Co., where he was past Vice President and Chief Engineer, and a member of the American Legion.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Donna Staker, in 2004. He is survived by his sons, George F., III(Felicia)and Timothy E.; his sister, Katherine Breslin(Thomas); his brother, Elbert Porter(Jean); and 2 grandchildren, Sophia Lynn Staker and Samuel Domenick Staker.
Funeral services will be 11am, Thursday, April 15th, at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where visitation will begin at 10am and where visitation will also be 6-8:00 pm., Wednesday, April 14th. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE.
The family suggests contributions in George's memory to the Minquas Fire Co., 21 N. James St., Wilmington, DE 19804.
