Gerald J. Forester died peacefully on January 25, 2008, at the age of 68, at the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford, DE, after a long illness.
Born in Overbrook, PA, Jerry was a smart and gentle man with a witty sense of humor that quickly endeared him to everyone. He graduated from St. Thomas More High School; St. Joseph's University and completed his graduate studies at Northwestern University. He spent many years in the commericial real estate field where he earned many disignations including Certified Property Manager(CPM). He served his country in the US Army and was proud of his military service.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father & mother, Leroy and Helen McMahon Forester. He is surveved by his loving wife, Pat Blanton Forester; sons, Terrence(Wendy), Robert(Gina), Gary(Kim), Michael and Patrick(Heather); grandchildren, Alyssa, Megan, Macy, Laura, Daniel, Jason, Emily, Amanda and Jordan; sister, Kathleen; brothers, Thomas(Veronica), James, John, Dennis(Karen), David(Kathy); mother-in-law Pat Blanton; brother-in-law, Bill Blanton(Marilyn); sister-in-law, Linda DiStefano(Louis); and 16 nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to the dedicated staff at the Delaware Veterans Home for their loving care.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 31st from 6-8 pm and also on Friday, February 1st, 8:30-10:00 am, at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, DE, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:30 am, St. Matthews RC Church, Maryland and Curtis Aves., Wilmington. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
The family suggests contributions in Jerry's memory to the Arthritis Foundation, Delaware Chapter, 1019 S. Govenor's Ave., Dover, DE 19904.
