Harold Mills

November 2, 1918 — October 28, 2013

On Monday, October 28, 2013, Harold S. Mills, Sr., age 94, our Dad, Pop-Pop, Brother, Uncle, and Dear Friend was taken on Angel's wings to join his heavenly family.

Harold was born in Toddville, MD moved to Wilmington, DE after he wed Pearl Murphy.

Harold was married to Pearl for 74 years. He was a father of 7, Carol Ann, daughter, lost at birth, Harold, Jr., Wayne (Terry), Lynda Montoro, Jay, Sr., Joey and Terri Hathaway (Scott); brother of Luzetta "Betsy" Brown. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Harold was a man with small town charm, which he carried through all of his life. He was a member of Mt. Salem United Methodist Church. Harold worked at Bancroft Mills for 42 years. He will be remembered for all of his acts of kindness he did during his lifetime. He was admired and respected by his family and friends, always willing to help anyone and no one left his house hungry. His family remembers him as a devoted husband, beloved father, loving Pop-Pop, a self taught craftsman, an expert Skipjack replica maker, an avid fisherman and crabber and overall an absolute brilliant man.

On Thursday, October 31 at 11AM we lay our Dad to rest at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St., Newport where the family will greet visitors beginning at 10AM. He will never be gone as he will live on through his children and extended family.
