Harriet Ann Van Boven

Harriet Ann van Boven age 80, of New Castle, formerly of Tamaqua, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

Harriet Ann graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1960 and from Goldey Beacom College in 1961. She worked at DuPont for 27 years before retiring in 1999. In December 2001 she became the Church Secretary at Richardson Park United Methodist Church, where she is actively involved in church activities. She enjoyed baking, reading and watching sports on TV, especially football and golf. Harriet Ann loved her beloved pup, Missy, flower gardening and watching the squirrels and birds out the window at the feeders. She treasured her lunches spent celebrating birthdays with her beloved 'Birthday Group' from Richardson Park United Methodist Church.

Harriet Ann is survived by her children, Tracy Willman (Scott), William Klingmeyer, Charles Klingmeyer, and Kristin Zumar (Blane); her grandchildren, Micheal, Brady, Chase, Paige, Laurel (Travis), T.J., Sarah, Billy, Griffin, Braeden, and Kaylyn (David), her uncle, Bill and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 12 at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Harriet Ann’s memory to Bags of Blessings c/o Richardson Park United Methodist Church and Cancer Cares.

The family would like to thank all of those at Seasons Hospice who cared so lovingly for their mother in her last days.
