Harry "Buddy" Bratton

Harry D. “Buddy” Bratton, age 81, of Wilmington, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in the presence of his family.

Better known as “Buddy," he was born and raised in Newport, DE. The son of the late Charles and Annie Bratton, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Bratton.

Buddy graduated from Conrad High School, received a BS in Business from the University of Delaware and served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Buddy owned and operated B&B Shoes for 40 years before retiring in 2002.

Buddy’s pride was his family and all of their activities; his passion was serving his church, Peniel United Methodist Church, as a lifelong member, Lay Speaker and Certified Lay Minister; and his pleasure was playing, singing and teaching music at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty; daughters, Donna Bratton and Beth Bratton-Heck; son, David Bratton; grandchildren, Amber, Joseph and Sherry; sister-in-law, Lillian Bratton and other in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at PENIEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 115 E. Market St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. Reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
