Harry E. Ewell, Jr.
AGE: 63 • New Castle
On the evening of January 10, 2017, beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Harry E. Ewell Jr made his entrance into heaven surrounded by his immediate loved ones.
Harry will always be known for his great work ethic, his love for the band The Eagles, his beautiful guitar playing and singing, being a die-hard Orioles and Ravens fan, quick to tell a joke to make you smile, and for his genuine love for life. On a good day, you could catch him at Battery Park in Old New Castle looking out at the water as he read his newspaper The Baltimore Sun. Harry was a graduate of William Penn High School and Delaware Technical Community College. He went onto work for 30 years as an automotive equipment salesman, never allowing his disability to hinder him in any way.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son Erik Ewell; his loving sisters, Carolyn Ann Esterling (Bill) and Linda Noble Dean (Larry); and his adoring nieces and nephews, Billy, Pam, Frank, Michael, Joe, Lester, John, and Jaime who was his caretaker while fighting for his life.
Funeral services will be at 7pm on Monday January 16th at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis Street Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 6pm. Burial will be private.
The family suggests contributions in Harry’s memory be made to either the Leukemia foundation or Delaware Hospice. A very special thank you to Dr. Michael Lankiewicz and the staff on 6B at Christiana Care, especially Tammy for going above and beyond.
