Age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away, on August 4, 2007, at home.
Granny was a waitress for many years and co-owner of Jim’s Tackle Shop in Glenville. She enjoyed making custom rods, shopping and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers, American Legion, and Clarence Fraim Senior Center.
Granny was preceded in death by James, her husband of 52 years, and by 2 sons, James and Richard; and her parents, Anthony & Mary Opechowska. She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Thomas & her husband Joe of Coplay, PA and Georgette Butler & her husband Wilbur of Wilmington, DE; 6 grandchildren, Bobbie, Joe, Belynda, Jim, Lee and Jeff; 8 great grandchildren, Darron, Amanda, Jesse, Gunnar, Tyler, Angel, Seth and Aliya; and her sisters, Ann Zulkowski and Sophie Jankot.
A special thanks to Dr. Robert Kopecki and Delaware Hospice for the special care they gave her.
A memorial service will be held at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home,
212 E. Justis St., Newport, DE on Sunday, August 19, 2007, where friends may visit beginning at 1:30 pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to Delaware Hospice Center Campaign, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.
