Age 80, of Rehoboth, DE, went peacefully to God's heavenly home on Friday, August 17, 2007.
She was born in Christiana, DE, the daughter of the late Herbert W. & Ada Cleaves. Helen spent most of her life with her late husband, of 51 years, Joseph Golden in Newport, DE and Ocean City MD.In 2004 Helen moved to the Brandywine Seaside Assisted Living facility in Rehoboth. There she made many friends who shared her love of reminiscing and playing games, especially cards.Helen was a member of the Red Hat Society, the garden club and a former member of the Senior Citizen Center in Ocean City. She was formerly a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Newport, DE and more recently a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in West Ocean City, MD.
Besides her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Sallee.She is survived by her children, Joanne Stokes & her husband, Samuel of Penhook, VA;Patricia Schneider & her husband John of Lewes, DE;Joseph Ronald Golden & his wife Brenda of Ocean City, MD; and Thomas Golden & his companion, Susie Steinman of Los Angeles, CA: 8 grandchildren;8 great grandchildren; brother, Herbert "Junior" Cleaves & his wife Joanne of Stanton, DE; sister, Betty Ann Redding of Newport, DE; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Wilson and Carolyn McCabe; and several nieces and newphews.
Funeral services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, N. DuPont Hwy, New Castle, DE, where visitation will begin at 1:15 pm. Interment will be in the adjoining memorial park.
The family suggests contributions in Helen's memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 31038 Country Garden Blvd., Suite D2, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
