Age 57, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on January 15, 2008, in the presence of his loving family.
Jim was a graduate of Fletcher Brown Technical School in 1969 with a degree in Commercial Arts. He retired from General Motors in 1997 after 30 years of service in the paint department, he also retired as a Staff Sergeant with the Delaware National Guard in 1995. He enjoyed drawing and was a huge Elvis fan.
He was the son of the late James M. Baker, Sr. and Lillian Hackett Baker and grandson of the late Franklin B. Baker, Sr.and Feryn L. Baker. He is survived by his loving wife, of 36 years, Patricia; he was a devoted father of 2 children, his son Herbert & daughter-in-law Cynthia; and daughter, Patricia Cautillo & son-in-law Michael;he was a loving Poppy to 6 grandchildren; Jay, Amber, Alexis, Brittany, Dante and Anthony. He is also survived by his stepmother, Martha; a brother, Harold Daniel Baker & his wife, Debbie; his sister, Sherry Steinly & her husband Keith; stepbrothers, Wayne, Steven, and Frank; stepsisters, Nancy and Judy; a loving aunt, Lois Baker; an uncle, Ralph Baker; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to recognize Vitas Hospice and Terry McIntyre, RN, for all their care and support though this difficult time. A very special thanks to his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Mark Baker for all their care, love and support.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle.
