James B. Latney Jr, “Jimmy” age 53, of Wilmington, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
Jimmy was a 1986 graduate of Concord High School, where he was known for his athleticism on the football field and track team. He furthered his education by attending both Hampton University and University of Delaware. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cooking- he could make a meal out of anything, listening to music, watching movies, fishing, and just being outdoors - he was always on the go. Jimmy was known to have the gift of gab and enjoyed long conversations, sometimes debates with those who entertained him. Jimmy acquired many nicknames over the years, but he was affectionately known as Lat or Choo Choo.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his step-mother, Dorothy Jean Latney; grandmothers, Mary F. Smith and Blanche E. Simpers and grandfather, Coleman E. Smith.
Survivors include his parents, Carol Latney and James Latney Sr; daughter, Quierra Latney; son, Adrian Latney and the mother of his children, Ebony Latney; sisters, Cherae Latney, Brande Latney and Marquita Sellman (Mike); brother, Jawann Latney (Morgan) and a host of nieces, nephews, great niece, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, June 8 at Corleto Latina Family Center, 807 North Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19805
Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 am.
Funeral Service will begin promptly at 11:30am.
Masks will be required for all in attendance.
